When fishing line, whether nylon or braided, is properly wound onto a fishing reel, it effectively minimizes casting-related line tangles and maintains appropriate line tension throughout multiple fishing sessions. However, after several outings, the line inevitably loosens on the reel, creating a persistent challenge in removing it. The Tension-Mate (TM) provides an optimal solution to this recurring problem.
The device accommodates your existing plastic spool by simply reattaching it to the TM unit for rewinding purposes. By utilizing the drag mechanism from your current reel, you can reapply tension to the TM system. Following the removal of line from your reel, you can reverse the process and restore the fishing line to your preferred tension specifications on your reels.
This system enables convenient fishing line addition at any location or moment with minimal effort.
Directions
The TM has been engineered for your convenience and offers secure mounting capabilities on numerous surfaces (refer to 'Where to mount' for detailed guidance). After mounting, unscrew the TM cap and position your spool—whether new or previously used—onto the shaft, then reattach the cap. The centering cone positioned at the base was specifically designed to center the spool, thereby ensuring stability during line winding operations. Once the TM is equipped with the spool, thread your line through the rod's eyes toward the reel and secure it firmly using a non-slip knot. Adjust the tension by rotating the cap clockwise until you achieve your preferred tension level. Rotating the cap counterclockwise will decrease the tension and allow for cap removal. Following use, thoroughly rinse the device in fresh water, allow it to dry completely, and store it appropriately.
Where to Mount
The Tension-Mate (TM) installation process is straightforward, offering multiple fastening options through bolts or clamps. A standard 'U' bolt enables secure attachment to any vehicle bull bar or nudge bar. For marine applications, a smaller 'U' bolt facilitates mounting on boat railings, while 'G' or 'F' clamps provide versatile solutions for affixing the device to boat sides or stationary flat surfaces. These same clamping mechanisms allow for convenient placement on picnic tables or vehicle side steps. In situations where bolts or clamps are unavailable, the TM can be readily secured in a vise, allowing you to recline comfortably and experience the soothing, rhythmic sensation of consistent spool operation.

Remove the Tension-Mate front any fixings, also do not lead it to your friend as you will not get it back
