Advantages
When the fishing line (nylon or braid) is applied correctly to the fishing reel, this will reduce line tangles when casting and keep the line at the correct tension for some time. After a few fishing trips, the line will become loose on the reel. This has always been a problem to get the line back off the reel. Now we have found the best way to strip the line from your reel. The Tension-Mate (TM) is the answer.
You are able to use your plastic spool, just place it back on to the TM and re-wind the fishing line back onto it. Using the drag of the reel that you're already using, you are able to apply tension back to the TM. Once you have stripped the line from the reel, you are able to go back the other way and replace the fishing line to the tension that you like on your reels.
You are able to add fishing line anywhere or at any time with ease.
Directions
TM has been designed for your convenience and can be mounted securely in many ways on many surfaces (please refer to 'Where to mount'). Once mounted, remove the cap of the TM and place your new or old spool on to the shaft and replace the cap. The centring cone on the bottom was designed to help centre the spool to maintain stability while winding your line. Once the TM is housing the spool, thread the line through the eyes of your rod to the reel, tie it off firmly with a non-slip knot to apply the line. By turning the cap clockwise until you have reached the desired tension that you like. Turning the cap anti-clock wise will reduce the tension and ultimately remove the cap.
After use rinse well in fresh water, dry and store.
Where to Mount
Mounting the Tension-Mate (TM) is easy with a number of bolts or clamps. With a 'U' bolt the TM can be mounted on any bull bar or nudge bar of a car. Using a smaller 'U' bolt if can be mounted on your boat rail or using a 'G' or 'F' clamp it can be mounted to the side of your boat or a fixed flat surface. By using the same clamps, you can mount the TM on a picnic table or the side steps of your vehicle. If no bolts or clamps are available, it can quite easily be held in a vice, so you can sit back in a comfy chair and enjoy the rhythmic motion of a consistent spool.
Caution:
Remove the Tension-Mate front any fixings, also do not lead it to your friend as you will not get it back
